Modesto Nuts drop 7th straight

May 13, 2014

The Modesto Nuts fell behind 8-1 Tuesday night and eventually dropped their seventh straight California League game, a 9-5 loss to Rancho Cucamonga at the Epicenter. Starter Andrew Brown (1-4) allowed six earned runs, five of them earned, in 32/3 innings while the Quakes pulled away. Modesto crept closer in the sixth with three runs, two on bases-loaded walks and the third on Will Swanner’s sacrifice fly. Trevor Story singled, doubled and tripled for the Nuts during the first of a six-game roadtrip. Rancho Cucamonga broke it open with a 5-run fourth capped by Steven Proscia’s 2-run triple off reliever Alving Mejias. The Nuts (10-29) will play at Rancho Cucamonga (17-22) again tonight and Thursday at 7:05 before a four-game visit to Lake Elsinore beginning Saturday evening at 6:05.
