Beth Kanaly: Workman’s comp is not working

May 12, 2014

I am asking why do I pay for workman’s compensation?

I fell into a hole on the blacktop at work in January 2014. I have a tear in my knee and need surgery. Workman’s compensation denied the surgery, so I had to appeal – which I did the next day.

I found out last week that it could be 30 to 60 days for an answer. I have been miserable for four months. Next, I get a letter that they are not paying my doctor. I wish I could be treated better than most criminals are treated; I am sure a criminal would have gotten surgery in the next week, instead of five to six months later. So why do I pay monthly to workman’s compensation? Prisoners don’t pay like I do.

I believe it is time to change policy and government should get its priorities correct. Infuriated teacher.
