Tour stops in Modesto to salute Catholic schools

May 12, 2014

Monday was a big day for the students at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Modesto. The University of Notre Dame’s Fighting for Our Children’s Future National Bus Tour visited to salute the students, teachers, leaders and achievements of the school and parish. The tour celebrates “the vital role Catholic schools play in educating children from immigrant families and impoverished communities,” according to a news release. Representatives of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education, or ACE, were on hand, as was Bishop Stephen Blaire of the Stockton Diocese. In a rally in the school gym, eighth-grade student speakers Josua Corsiglia and Caitlyn Bui spoke on what Catholic education has meant to them. Students also sang for their visitors.
