Every year, The Modesto Bee is proud to take part in two fundraisers that help the neediest in our community.
Around Thanksgiving, thats A Book of Dreams, which benefits a variety of agencies. Today, its Kids Day, which is all about The Salvation Army Red Shield Center in south Modesto.
Every year, we ask sponsors to contribute to the cause, which provides low-income children a safe place to play, learn and grow after school and during the summer. And on a certain Tuesday in May, a dedicated group of volunteers takes to the streets, hawking special-edition newspapers on street corners like newsboys did years ago.
And every year, this community gives generously.
So thank you. Whether you are a sponsor who contributed thousands or a driver who gave us a dollar, we appreciate all of you. Rest assured that youre investing in the lives and the future successes of children.
