NUTS FALL, SPLIT 4-GAME GIANTS SERIES
Modesto Nuts pitchers allowed only four hits but two of them were lethal in Thursday night’s 4-1 loss to the San Jose Giants at Municipal Stadium. Brian Ragira’s 2-run double in the fourth off starter Matt Flemer (3-3) and Blake Miller’s 2-run double in the eighth off reliever Rayan Gonzalez – both with two out – set up the Giants’ split of the four-game series. Meanwhile, Modesto went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and scored its only run in the sixth when Sean Dwyer raced home on a wild pitch. The Nuts return to Thurman Field tonight to begin a three-game weekend series against the Stockton Ports.
