AMR plans training on hands-only CPR in Modesto, Salida

May 6, 2014

On May 21, American Medical Response will teach Modesto and Salida residents how to save lives through compression-only CPR. The event is part of AMR’s nationwide observance of National Emergency Medical Services Week, with events being held in 40 states. Last year, AMR and its partners taught nearly 60,000 people this lifesaving skill in one day. Compression-only CPR allows bystanders to keep lifesaving blood flowing through a victim’s body just by pressing on the chest in a hard, fast rhythm. The free CPR coaching is at the following locations:

• Modesto City Hall, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 1010 10th St., Suite 1013 (first-floor Alliance Meeting Room)

• Modesto Regional Fire Authority stations, noon to 7 p.m., in English and Spanish except where noted:

Station 4 – 1505 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto

Station 5 – 200 W. Briggsmore Ave, Modesto

Station 10 – 148 Imperial Ave, Modesto

Station 12 – 4820 Salida Blvd., Salida (English instruction only)

• St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4 to 7 p.m., 1813 Oakdale Road, Modesto
