Eight people were arrested on suspicion of auto theft in Stanislaus County from April 25 through Wednesday.


Suspect: Joel Cavazos, 55, Modesto

Date arrested: April 25

Arresting Agency: California Highway Patrol

Charges: Auto theft, attempted receipt of stolen property, evading/disregard for officer safety


Suspect: Gabriel Anthony Santillano, 18, Modesto

Date arrested: April 26

Arresting Agency: Modesto Police Department

Charges: Auto theft


Suspect: Carlos Santoyo, 21, Hayward

Date arrested: April 26

Arresting Agency: MPD

Charges: Auto theft, attempted receipt of stolen property


Suspect: Thomas Mahealani Swayne, 52, Patterson

Date arrested: Sunday

Arresting Agency: Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department

Charges: Auto theft, false impersonation, assault with deadly weapon other than a firearm, inflicting corporal injury on spouse or cohabitant


Suspect: James Allen Bastin, 52, Modesto

Date arrested: Tuesday

Arresting Agency: MPD

Charges: Auto theft, presenting false identification to police officer, rearrest or revocation of probation


Suspect: Nicholas Patrick Kremer, 29, transient

Date arrested: Tuesday

Arresting Agency: Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force

Charges: Auto theft, felony evading, receiving stolen property, delaying or obstructing a police officer in performance of his duties, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance, burglary


Suspect: Anthony Allen Treat, 45, Ripon

Date arrested: Tuesday

Arresting Agency: StanCATT

Charges: Auto theft, receiving stolen property, delaying or obstructing a police officer in performance of his duties, possession of drug paraphernalia


Suspect: Raymond Matthew Rosas, 33, Empire

Date arrested: Wednesday

Arresting Agency: StanCATT

Charges: Auto theft, theft or extortion involving a motor vehicle or trailer, enhancement for committing a crime while on bail, rearrest or revocation of probation
