What: VETERANS JOB FAIR

Where: Modesto Junior College West Campus, Mary Stuart Rogers Building, 2201 Blue Gum Ave.

Info: The Employment Development Department and Modesto Junior College Technical Education & Workforce Development are presenting the 2014 Veterans Job Fair. More than 45 employers along with 10 veteran support organizations will be in attendance. The event is free and open to the public. Come dressed for interviews and bring résumés. What: HEALTH AND SAFETY FAIR

Where: Turlock Covenant Church, 316 S Laurel St.

Info: The Love Turlock free health and safety fair will feature information on health and safety issues, children’s activities, child car seat inspections, free food boxes for qualified individuals and more. The event is sponsored by Turlock 12:10 Lions Club, Love Turlock and Turlock Covenant Church.

What: COMMUNITY YARD SALE

Where: Mistlin Sports Complex, Jack Tone and River roads

What: DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING

Where: Don Pedro Elementary School, 2411 Hidalgo St.

Info: The Northern Mariposa County History Center will present a free screening of the documentary film “Green Fire.” Marie Malo, U.S. Forest Service interpretive specialist with the Stanislaus National Forest, will host the film and offer an introductory explanation and answer questions at the conclusion of the film. YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: C.E. Overman, who had served as principal of Modesto High School since 1928, announced his official resignation, to take effect at the close of the term. Overman accepted a similar position from Analy Union High School in Sebastopol.
