Steering toward a career

April 30, 2014

An estimated 125 to 150 people turned out for the annual hiring fair held by Western Pacific Truck School at its location off Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto on Thursday afternoon. The event was “for experienced and inexperienced drivers – even people who just thought they might want to become a truck driver,” said Western Pacific President Bob Schauer. Eight companies – including DOT Foods, Antonini, Northern Refrigerated Transportation and FreshPoint – were on hand to talk with the prospective employees, review driving records and take applications. “We were very pleased” with the candidates who turned out, “and so were the companies,” Schauer said.
