Fatal accident on Interstate 5 near Westley

April 29, 2014

A big rig accident on Interstate 5 in Stanislaus County has resulted in a fatality, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The accident was reported at 6 a.m. Tuesday near Howard Road in the Westley area. Preliminary reports indicate the big rig went into Ingram Creek in the center divide of the highway. Only one vehicle was involved.

The big rig was carrying a load of drink mix, which has spilled in the center divide but not onto the freeway, the CHP said. State Department of Transportation workers will be called to clean up the mess.
