The recent opinion article by Leonard Pitts Jr., Grapes of Wrath still resonates (Page A13, April 25), should be a wake-up call to all middle-class voters. Who is it that said if we do not know our history, we are bound to make the same mistakes over and over again? Right now, as wages and benefits for middle-class workers are being frozen or slashed while the wages and benefits for administrative positions are getting disgustingly high, middle-class voters should be aware that only the middle class, and no other class, will save the society that has made us strong. Our job is to be aware of the legislators and how they vote on laws before going to the voting box. That is an immediate way to prevent the living wages and benefits of the middle class from disappearing.
