On April 22 I attended with my wife a Community Hospice luncheon organized by hospice staff for all its volunteers. In this room of volunteers and staff you will find the most compassionate and dedicated men and women you will ever meet; people who give of their time and emotions with every ounce of energy they have.
These women and men are not looking for rewards; they are there at hospice because they believe they can make a difference in someones last journey in life and for the families. In that room when you look around you will see smiling faces, women and men telling each other about the people and families they have met and the stories that those families have shared with them.
You see, when you are a hospice volunteer you enter someones life; they share with you so many things that have happened to them throughout life. When you look around this room you will see humanity at its best, women and men who love what they do and a staff that loves their volunteers. Women and men in our community who really care, thats why they are hospice volunteers, and staff members.
