State Bluegrass Association making music at Stanislaus fairgrounds

April 25, 2014

The California Bluegrass Association is having its spring campout through Sunday at the Stanislaus County Fairground in Turlock.

The gathering began Monday, as pickers and singers parked trailers and RVs and pitched tents for a week of music and fellowship. There are no staged performances, but the public has been welcome to swing by to enjoy jam sessions throughout the days and evenings.

In the CBA newspaper, Breakdown, writer George Martin noted the fairgrounds’ “ample grass to camp or park on, trees, shade and some open fairground buildings in case(Heaven forbid) rain.” Well, the rain did come, Thursday night, but at least it will make the grass beneath the bluegrass a little greener.
