Jerry Keeble: Farmers should be able to use federal land

April 17, 2014

The fight over grazing rights in Arizona is a good example of how the Bureau of Land Management has stopped, or reduced, farmers from using federal lands. We continue to spend hundreds of billions on wildland fires. We pay the federal government for leases on BLM land. The cattle are useful in eating the fuel that burns millions of trees, homes and people. When the BLM restricts these cattle, it drives up food costs. I guess it’s hard for politicians to realize we all do not have a guaranteed salary of a million dollars a year.
