Daniel Bruce: Leave out entries with irrational conjecture

April 14, 2014

Intelligent entries, e.g., “State law more important now” (Letters, April 10) and then the dribble, e.g., “They’ll find the jet at election time” (April 10) is very concerning to me regarding the editor in charge of selecting “Letters From Our Readers.”

Lift the bar, Modesto Bee! I am confident we have enough intelligence in our community to weed out nonsense. Different conflicting opinions we welcome; irrational conjecture is not worth our time and fans the flames of ignorance. By all means, inform and educate but don’t fan an irrational flame.

Editor’s note: The Bee welcomes all points of view, including those of writers who choose to express their opinions using sarcasm and irony.

Modesto Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
