Turlock Irrigation District takes small step on treatment plant

April 8, 2014

The Turlock Irrigation District board voted 5-0 Tuesday to appoint General Manager Casey Hashimoto as the negotiator for the use of some of its Tuolumne River water in a proposed treatment plant.

The project would provide drinking water to people in Turlock, Ceres and south Modesto, easing their reliance on wells. Should the partners make progress, the plant could be running as soon as 2020.
