Mike Gascon: TV drug ads are a problem

April 1, 2014

Regarding “Our drug problem begins with glut of prescriptions” (Opinions, March 18): Amen to that!

A lot of patients are dying from prescription drugs from physicians. Between the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry taking charge of television ads, there is a big, big problem facing all of us. All you have to do is watch TV and you are bombarded with pill advertisements for any physical problem. Being a senior citizen, it seems you need everything you see or read about in your junk mail (which is another area of concern).

The television mongrels will not stop. Money enters the picture and the pharmaceutical lobbyists will not back off, either. Consequently, we are stuck with it because of our lame-brain politicians who, as usual, do nothing. But what else is new in this great country of ours?
