MJC, Ripon’s McCreath heads to Oregon for football

March 29, 2014

Modesto Junior College tight end Jake McCreath will continue his career at Oregon. McCreath (6-4, 250), a three-sport star at Ripon High, caught 33 passes for 587 yards and four touchdowns last fall for the Pirates. “Jake presented great mismatches for us and was an excellent downfield blocker. We had success running toward his side of the field,” MJC coach Sam Young said. McCreath, who will join the Ducks as a preferred walkon, will compete against former Central Catholic star John Mundt at tight end. Another local connection at Oregon is graduate assistant and former Hilmar star Nate Costa. McCreath spent one year as a redshirt at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, before he transferred to MJC.
