Robert Farrace: Wood Colony residents generous in support of Modesto Marathon

March 29, 2014

Whether Wood Colony becomes a part of Modesto or not, its residents showed their generosity and community spirit in support of the Surgical Artistry Modesto Marathon. The marathon, coordinated by ShadowChase Running Club, has official aid stations approximately every two miles with various goodies and essentials provided to the runners by the exceptional race volunteers. It was fantastic to see various informal “aid stations” manned by the Colony’s residents. While some provided potent potables for the more adventurous, the best were the family tables, with kids and adults offering an extra bottle of cold water on a warm runner’s day. Thanks to all the volunteers and the Wood Colony folks who made the fifth marathon the best yet. Hope to see you next year!
