Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Spend an evening at the ballet with a twist. The professional dance company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is an all-male troupe that parodies the classic art form. The program features comedic takes on classic pieces, including “Swan Lake.”

‘Driving Miss Daisy’

Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theatre brings the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Driving Miss Daisy” to the Gallo Center for the Arts. Made more famous by the Oscar-winning movie starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy, the story follows Miss Daisy and her newly hired chauffeur, Hoke, who form a friendship despite their differences. The touring show comes from the Walnut Street Theatre, America’s oldest running theater company.

Ozomatli

Popular Los Angeles-based culture-mashers Ozomatli return to the State Theatre. The group mixes Latin, hip-hop, rock and more for a sound all its own. Opening for the group will be El Conjunto Nueva Ola, an ensemble that also plays a fusion of Latin and rock, all while wearing traditional Mexican wrestler masks.

‘Romeo & Juliet’

Merced ShakespeareFest presents the romantic tragedy “Romeo and Juliet.” The famed production about star-crossed lovers will feature 25 performers from Merced and the Central Valley, director Heike Hambley said. The show also will feature guitar music by Eric Bocks and dances by Sol Del Valle.

Cesar Chavez Celebration

The city of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department’s Maddux Youth Center and Modesto City Schools celebrate the 18th annual Cesar E. Chavez Family Day Celebration. The free community event will celebrate the civil rights and union leader’s life. The day will include speeches, poetry, cultural dances and community resources. Light refreshments will be provided.
