Pitman High swim team claims NorCal Relays

Pitman High’s swimming team took the overall title at the 21st annual Northern California Relays, held Saturday at Johansen High School’s B. Brent Bohlender Aquatics Facility, with a team score of 268.

Merced High’s girls team was first with 70 points, followed by Pitman (62) and Modesto (60). On the boys side, Atwater was first with 65 points, followed by Pitman (55), and Merced and Modesto (tied with 44 points).

There were two varsity records broken during the meet.

The Merced boys 200 back/breast relay team won the event in 1 minute, 50.79 seconds, shattering the old mark (1:55.27) held by Casa Robles for the past 21 years.

In the 100 free relay race, Atwater High’s boys team finished in 42.69, breaking Golden Valley’s 17-year-old mark by two-hundredths of a second.
