Late readers lose

The Stanislaus County Office of Education launched an initiative at the start of this school year focused on increasing graduation rates. Called Destination Graduation, the goal is to increase the percentage of students who graduate high school.

Children who can’t read by the end of the third grade are 13 times more likely to drop out of school, according to the Campaign for Grade Level Reading. (www.gradelevelreading.net)
