The Stanislaus District is guaranteed at least one team in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III girls championship game, as No. 2 seed Modesto Christian (21-8) takes on No. 3 Patterson (25-4) at 7:30 tonight at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento. That game will be followed by the top-seeded Crusaders boys (20-8) taking on No. 4 Christian Brothers (20-9) at 9 p.m. as MC coach Gary Porter goes for his 500th victory in 18 seasons with the Crusaders. The quartet of games starts at 4 p.m. with the top-seeded Vanden girls taking on No. 4 Florin, followed by the No. 2-seeded Vanden boys facing No. 3 Fairfield. Today’s winners advance to Friday’s section title games at Sleep Train Arena, with the girls’ game at 7:30 p.m. and the boys following at 9 p.m. Pictured above, Modesto Christian guard Stephanie Moore shoots against St. Mary’s of Berkeley in February.
