Eric Thompson: California is already tough on guns

March 3, 2014

In regard to “ Close loopholes in Brady Bill” and “ Expand background checks on gun sales” (Letters, Feb. 28), by Carole Stark and Yvonne Allen, you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

Nobody legally buys a gun in California without a background check. This includes gun shows. To purchase at gun shows, you still must go through a dealer and a background check. While that may happen in Nevada and Arizona, it doesn’t happen here.

California has the strictest gun laws in the nation already and the U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled on the Second Amendment.
