Body found at dairy west of Modesto

February 28, 2014

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of a body Friday morning in the catch pond of a dairy west of Modesto. Two workers discovered the body floating in the pond about 9 a.m. at the dairy in the 3400 block of Paradise Road, said Sgt. Keith Rakoncza. Firefighters responded and assisted with the removal of the body from the catch pond, after which it was transported to the Stanislaus County coroner’s facility. Rakoncza would not release the gender of the person, who has not been identified. He also would not say how long the body was thought to have been in the water or if there were any signs of foul play. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the person’s identity and the cause of death. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Detective David Hickman of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department at (209) 525-7042. If you have any tips, you can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
