TURLOCK — A man suspected in a Stockton homicide was arrested at his Turlock home Thursday afternoon.
The U.S. Marshals Service, with the assistance of Turlock police, apprehended Cahauri Williams, 19, when he emerged from his home in the 2500 block of North Walnut Road at the coaxing of family.
Williams was arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Phi Canh Vong, 38, in December 2013.
Law enforcement had been watching Williams house and pulled over a car that left from it at about 11:30 a.m., said Turlock police officer Mayra Lewis. The traffic stop prompted a brief lockdown of Turlock Junior High School, which was lifted when officers learned Williams wasnt in the car. A day care facility adjacent to the suspects home remained on lockdown for the duration of the incident.
At about 12:40 p.m., Williams mother arrived at the scene. Using a PA system and cell phones to communicate, Williams mother talked to him for about 20 minutes until convincing him to surrender, Lewis said.
He surrendered peacefully and was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
