TURLOCK — The Stanislaus County Sheriffs Department is investigating the death of a person at a rest stop near Turlock on Wednesday night that has been termed suspicious.
According to Sgt. Keith Rakoncza, fire and medical responders were called to the Enoch Christoffersen rest stop on Highway 99 northbound for a medical aid call.
When they arrived, they found the victim and provided medical aid, but the individual died at the scene and emergency responders called law enforcement.
There is no cause of death at this time and detectives are investigating the case, Rakoncza said in an email. He said the victims identity is not being released until family members can be notified.
An autopsy was scheduled Thursday. No further information was being released, Rakoncza said.
