Burn planned in Stanislaus forest

February 25, 2014

If conditions permit, the Stanislaus National Forest will conduct a broadcast underburn of about 166 acres in the Mi-Wok Ranger District during the spring burning season. The project area is off Italian Bar Road north of the South Fork River. Smoke may be visible from Highway 108 in the Mi-Wuk Village and Long Barn areas. Prescribed burns, conducted under precise weather and fuel moisture conditions, help reduce fuel for wildfires.
