Bill McCarthy: Unborn have rights to have caring mothers

February 20, 2014

Regarding the article “State prison doctor accused of more abuses” (Feb. 14, Page A1): It appears that some prisoners had been sterilized by the good doctor over many years. They now want money. These prisoners blame the doctor, and never their own conduct! While I agree that normally this would be wrong, it is not more horrific than a woman getting pregnant then having an abortion or giving birth to children who are already addicted to drugs or infected with AIDS. Many end up on welfare and Medi-Cal because their mothers don’t care. This type of behavior does not warrant protection or the right to control one’s body. We need to end the horror that these kids will face. To stop these abuses, we must validate the rights of the unborn to have caring mothers.
