Resource Efficiency Fair

The Resource Efficiency Fair will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Merced Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St. Learn what local government agencies, nonprofit groups, schools and businesses are doing in your neighborhood. Connect with local leaders and organizations, share your ideas, and learn how to become involved in the project. For more information, call (209) 385-6858.

Natural science scholarships

Central Sierra Audubon Society and the local Sierra Club chapter are offering $1,000 scholarships to students studying the field of natural sciences. The society is offering the Edye Dingman Scholarship while the Sierra Club’s scholarship honors Mack Waggoner. Application deadline is Feb. 28. DAR meeting

The Merced River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10:30 a.m. March 1 in the main branch of the Merced County Library, Gracey Room. Social time starts at 10 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. DAR is open to women, age 18 and older, who can prove lineal descent from a Revolutionary War patriot. Relay for Life sale

Merced Relay for Life’s parking lot sale is being held from 8 a.m. to noon March 1 at the Merced High School parking lot on Olive Avenue. The proceeds will go to support research and programs in the fight against cancer.

Saturday of Service

The first Saturday in March each year is designated as Saturday of Service for Soroptimists around the world. This is the date that Soroptimists everywhere do a service project for their community. For nine years Soroptimist of Merced has worked at the Merced County Library cleaning. They will clean shelves, books, tables, toys in the Little Theater, furniture and computer keyboards. When volunteers arrive, they should walk downstairs to the lower level of the library and press the buzzer to get in. The library does not open until 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo

Arts UC Merced presents Ladysmith Black Mambazo, 2014 Grammy Award winner, at 7:30 p.m. March 6 at the Art Kamangar Center at the Merced Theatre. Tickets are $15 to $25. For more information, go to http://arts.ucmerced.edu or call (209) 381-0500.
