Lee Ogle: Why do gas prices stay high?

February 13, 2014

Why do the gasoline stations in Modesto on the east side get to charge $3.50 per gallon, and the west side charges $2.99 per gallon of gas. It’s 40 cents to 55 cents higher on the east side and the middle of town. Isn’t this called price gouging and illegal? Will telling them about the difference do any good, or do they just think they can keep ripping us off for a lot of money? Maybe if (we) boycott these high-priced stations it would help. Gas has been under $3 for over a week. Why so long to lower gasoline prices?
