What: GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING

When: Tuesday, 6 p.m.

Where: Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Telle Center, 1600 Carver Road

Info: The Genealogical Society of Stanislaus County will hold its annual Souper Supper and general meeting. Professional genealogist Robert Givens will be returning for the first of a two-part presentation, with his second presentation to be given in March. The public is invited. What: LIBRARY GAME DAY

When: Wednesday, 4:30 p.m.

Where: Stanislaus County Library, 1500 I St.

What: EXPLORATORIUM NIGHT

When: Wednesday, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Johansen High School’s Vikings Den, 641 Norseman Drive

Info: Chemistry demonstration by Steve Murov. There will be hands-on experiments for students grades three through eight. Prizes will be given to those who complete all 14 of the lab stations. Use a sonic ranger, play with electricity, crush cans and participate in other hands-on lab stations. Free. For more information, call (209) 576-4702.

What: SISTER CITIES MEETING

When: Wednesday, 6 p.m.

Where: City Hall, Room 2005, 1010 10th St.

Info: Modesto Sister Cities International is holding its annual general meeting and invites all who are interested in finding out more about Modesto’s organization, which is involved with seven sister cities around the world. The meeting will offer the opportunity to meet board members and learn about past and future activities. Student exchanges are being organized for summer with Kurume, Japan and Laval, France. YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: The little theater of Modesto Junior College hosts a two-day dairy school. The program, sponsored by the University of California Agricultural Extension Service and the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau Dairy Department, offers four hours of classes each day taught by experts in the field.
