Car runs into office in Modesto

Bee Staff ReportsFebruary 13, 2014

A man suffering an apparent medical problem crashed his car into an office in central Modesto on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred just after 10 a.m. at the administrative office of the Valley First Credit Union on Orangeburg Avenue west of McHenry Avenue.

According to Modesto Regional Fire Authority Battalion Chief Hugo Patino, the man, who was alone in his car, apparently had a medical episode that led to the crash. The car, a Lincoln, went through a bush and hit a window. The car wasn’t going very fast, as damage to the building was minor. Patino said the driver appeared to be in roughly in his 60s.

Firefighters responded and got the driver out of the car. They performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the man before he was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
