The Modesto Chamber of Commerce recently honored nine individuals, organizations and businesses during its 100th gala and members choice awards.
Susie Fagundes of Intrinsic Elements earned the Ted Shields Welcome Team member top award. Brad Blakeley of Edward Jones Investments became the Vera Girolami Ambassador award winner for the second consecutive year.
Mike Garcia of F&M Bank and Meredith Brandsma of PMZ Real Estate shared the inaugural Leadership Modesto Graduate of the Year honors. The Latino Community Roundtable was the top nonprofit organization, Modesto Toyota received the distinguished service award and Village Baking Co. reigned as the top small business. Prudential California Realty earned Member of the Year honors, and Gallo Center for the Arts Chief Executive Officer Lynn Dickerson received the Robert J. Cardoza Citizen of the Year award.
Engineering firm honored
StanTec Consulting Services Inc. of Modesto was among the 12 companies whose projects were honored with engineering excellence awards by the American Council of Engineering Companies of California. StanTec was honored for the Tesla water treatment facility project in Tracy and Merceds phase V solids handling and upgrade project.
Animal organization gets grant
Wags and Whiskers Rescue of Modesto is the recipient of a $3,550 grant from the Bissell Pet Foundation. The grant money will be used to subsidize low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce the numbers of animals in shelters.
