— Youngsters at Garrison Elementary School showed off their artistic talents Thursday afternoon with a performance of songs and poems in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

The second-graders’ event also focused on efforts to achieve peace and the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 60s. Students also used a prop made to resemble a mirror while singing and dancing to the song “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson. A second performance will take place today at 10 a.m.
