Info: Turlock Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary is holding a fundraiser tea and silent auction with a handmade quilt as the door prize. The fundraiser will have a Hawaiian theme. What: AARP SAFE DRIVER CLASS

Info: A two-day AARP Safe Driver class is planned. Cost is $15 for AARP members, $20 for nonmembers. Class size is limited, so preregistration is encouraged. Info: The city of Merced is holding a Town Hall meeting designed to let residents tell the City Council about issues residents are facing. The public will have plenty of opportunity to comment during the evening.
50 YEARS AGO: A Modesto physician crash-landed his twin-engine airplane into an Oakdale farm, angering the rancher, who had just planted alfalfa. To mitigate the damage done to the crop, a helicopter was hired to remove the wreckage piece by piece. However, the fuselage was too heavy to move via helicopter. A tractor and crane had to come in to finish the job.
