Rail enthusiasts who are interested in volunteering at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown are invited to an open house Saturday.
Applications will be accepted through Feb. 12. Railtown features a steam- and diesel-powered heritage railway that has been featured in movies and on TV and educates people on how rail travel was achieved more than a century ago.
No previous experience with trains or public service is required for the car host and tour guide volunteer positions. The open house, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will allow prospective volunteers to meet with the park staff and learn from current volunteers what positions are available.
Tours will be conducted, and snacks will be served. Applications are available at www.railtown1897.org or by calling (209) 984-4408.
