What: SPAY DAY

When: Wednesday and Feb. 12

What: SMART DRIVER REFRESHER CLASS

When: Thursday, 9 a.m.

Where: Modesto Senior Center, 211 Bodem St.

Info: The Yosemite Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals invites nonprofit and business professionals in the region to attend an educational lunch and program. Blake Menezes, social media strategist for Autodesk, will share best practices about social media storytelling. Cost is $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers. Info: Super quilting seminar put on by Ricky Tims of La Veta, Colo. Ricky has invited Alex Anderson of Livermore and Pam Holland of Australia as guest teachers. YESTERYEARS

100 YEARS AGO: Modesto’s downtown theater is being rebuilt after a fire destroyed it the month prior. Owner W.R. Mensinger promises the new playhouse will be better than it was before, down to the decorations. Matching the theatre’s construction will be a new Park theater building on Eleventh Street.
