MODESTO — Authorities on Thursday found indoor marijuana gardens at three San Joaquin County homes and arrested six people, including two men at a north Modesto home.
The San Joaquin County Metro Drug Task Force served five search warrants at homes in Modesto, Stockton and Lathrop, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriffs Department. The drug seizures and arrests were the culmination of an investigation that had gone one for several months.
The marijuana gardens were found at homes in the 4100 block of Vercelli Street in Stockton; the 13500 block of Dolomite Street in Lathrop; and the 500 block of New England Ave. in Lathrop.
Investigators seized 860 marijuana plants and more than 100 pounds of processed marijuana. They also seized six guns and a small amount of methamphetamine. Investigators also confiscated $65,000.00 found at the homes.
All three homes had their electrical meters bypassed, allowing the occupants to steal more than $200,000 in electricity from PG&E, sheriffs officials said.
The investigators also searched homes in 2600 block of Tradition Way in Modesto; and in the1600 block of Venice Circle in Stockton.
At the Modesto home, Daniel Lee Madrid, 30, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, possessing marijuana for sales, criminal conspiracy, firearms violations and theft of utilities. Also at the Modesto home, Edward Garcia Madrid, 54, was arrested on suspicion of possessing meth and firearms violation.
At the New England Avenue Lathrop home, Anthony Ray Sanson, 29, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, possessing marijuana for sales, criminal conspiracy, firearms violations, theft of utilities and resisting arrest. Sheriffs officials said Sanson climbed into the attic and refused to come out before he was taken into custody.
Melissa Ann Madrid, 29, Michael Anthony Hawkins, 25, Crystal Lee Werner, 28, and Joseph Sanson, 33, were taken into custody at the Venice Circle home in Stockton. They were arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, possessing marijuana for sales, criminal conspiracy, firearms violations and theft of utilities.
