— A 19-year-old from La Grange died in an accident near Jamestown on Wednesday afternoon. According to the California Highway Patrol, Grace Alice Doty was driving a 1998 Toyota south on Sims Road as a 1990 Peterbilt approached eastbound on Highway 120. The accident occurred about 3:20 p.m.

Doty stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Sims and 120, then accelerated her car into the path of the big rig, driven by David Wainwright, 68, of Sonora. Wainwright tried to brake and avoid the Toyota, but the Peterbilt struck the car.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The CHP said investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.
