Turlock police nabbed a suspected robber after a witness reported a man being chased by an employee of the restaurant that was robbed.
The witness saw the pair running from the Teriyaki Express on North Golden State Boulevard just before 8 p.m., said Sgt. Stephen Webb.
When officers arrived, the suspect had gotten into a car and was fleeing the scene. He led officers on a short pursuit until the car he was driving got stuck in a recently plowed field on Front Street at Sycamore Avenue, Webb said.
The suspect, 27-year-old Chris Kitavong, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of stolen property and evading pollice.
The car he was driving had been stolen from Ceres, Webb said. Inside, the car officers found money, a mask and a knife.
