25 YEARS AGO: The Modesto a la Carte Festival, created by the Chamber of Commerce to boost the city’s image, was moved from August to June to match Graffiti Night and turn the weekend event into a weeklong celebration. The chamber officially branded the festival as the Modesto a la Carte Fabulous Food and Fifties Festival and planned to move it from Tuolumne River Regional Park to downtown Modesto.
