BAD TO THE BONZ Bad to the Bonz Boxing Gym is having tryouts for its winter boxing program as well as providing adult and youth classes. There also are clinics for coaches that will be given by professional coach Tony Avila, former coach of the Modesto PAL boxing club and now owner of Bad to the Bonz Boxing Gym. The winter special for youth is $150 for two months. The gym encourages parents to work out for free alongside their children. The gym also offers kickboxing training by coach Gene Fields of Team Voodoo. Free classes on Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon. HEALTHY AGING The Healthy Aging Association offers free Young At Heart group exercise classes for 60 years and better. Classes range from strength training, aerobics or Tai Chi. The strength training classes uses tubes for resistance and the exercises can be done standing or sitting depending on the participants ability. Tubes are available for first-timers at each site. The camp, for players in grades 8-11, will focus on both hitting and defense skills and will include a tour of the campus and athletic department facilities. Cost is $40 with a discounted rate of $30 for children of Pacific staff, siblings and teams of four or more campers. CLINIC AT MJC The 12th annual Learn By Doing Clinic is Feb. 8 from 9:15 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Modesto Junior College track. Clinic is for high school track and field athletes and those from other sports who want to improve their speed. Work with MJC track and field staff and other Modesto-area coaches on form drills, stretching, high jump, long and triple jump, shot put, discus, plyometrics, hurdles, pole vault, distance events and more. Cost is $20. First 100 to register will receive T-shirt. If shirts run out, cost is $15. Lunch and water provided. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at men’s physical education Room 110 near the pool.
