Active shooter training Saturday at Golden Valley High School in Merced

— An active shooter training is scheduled for Saturday at Golden Valley High during the early morning and afternoon hours, school officials said.

The training is geared to prepare law enforcement and school officials for an armed gunman entering the campus.

Neighboring residents and businesses are to be advised of the mock lockdown. Questions and concerns can be answered through the Golden Valley High School Student Support Office by calling Associate Principal Michelle Bliss at (209) 385-8021.

Participating in the training are Merced County Office of Emergency Services, Golden Valley High School, Merced Fire Department, Merced Police Department, Merced County Emergency Medical Services and Riggs Ambulance.
