Bart Harvey: Don’t report silly disrespect

The front-page article “No love lost rivalry fuels 49ers, ’Hawks” (Jan. 19) shows a photo of a man walking on a San Francisco 49er jersey on the floor of the House Chief Clerk’s office at the Washington state legislature. Come on, people! It’s only a football game. Is this really a good method of displaying your lack of respect for other people? Does this gesture imply that this is the correct way to teach respect for people you don’t even know? If this is good news reporting, maybe you should start over.
