Virginia Bork: A stranger’s fine gesture

January 24, 2014

On Jan. 14, I went through the McDonald’s drive-thru at the Yosemite and Creekwood. After ordering I moved forward to go to the payment window. An SUV was in the other lane and we both got there about the same time. Since I saw that she had ordered before me, I waved my hand for her to go ahead. In the manner I waved her ahead she might have felt I was being rude, but I knew she had placed her order first so I wanted her to go ahead of me, which she did. When I got to the payment window the cashier told me that the person in the SUV had paid for my meal. I am writing in hopes the lady sees this. What a fine gesture – it’s why I love Modesto.
