Nine-time Grammy-winning R&B artist John Legend is coming to the Gallo Center for the Arts on March 29.

The singer-songwriter announced his 2014 North American “An Evening With John Legend: The All of Me Tour” on Friday, and the Modesto stop comes about a week after its launch. Tickets will be $69 to $119 and go on sale Feb. 1.

Legend is touring to support his fourth studio release, “Love in the Future.” The album was co-produced by Kanye West and Dave Tozer and features guest appearances from Kimbra, Rick Ross, Stacy Barthe and Seal. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August. Its first single, “All of Me,” has gone gold.

Legend’s upcoming tour and Gallo Center date will all be done in a more acoustic style and include a string quartet.

The University of Pennsylvania graduate got his break while still in college when Lauryn Hill hired him to play piano on her track “Everything Is Everything.” After graduating, he was signed to hip-hop superstar West’s G.O.O.D. Music label. Over the years, Legend has collaborated with artists including will.i.am, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z. His own hits include “Ordinary People,” “Heaven” and “Green Light.”

The Legend booking is another in a series of high-profile performances the Gallo Center has landed this season. This month, classical music icon Itzhak Perlman played to a capacity crowd. Earlier this week, the center announced an April 8 concert by Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas.

Tickets to the Legend show will be available by calling (209) 338-2100, going to www.galloarts.org or going to the ticket office at 1000 I St. in downtown Modesto.
