Isaac Robles: Leave Wood Colony like it is

January 24, 2014

I grew up in the Wood Colony area, went to school there and have many friends, family, and great memories there. What always made it such a different place from the rest of Modesto is what still makes it different today: It’s clean, it’s consistently productive, and it has a rich, positive heritage.

I would never pretend to know what would be more profitable or productive for the Modesto community; but I have always believed that our elected officials should do what is right for a community. Leaving Wood Colony alone is right for Modesto. Those in the position to make this decision need to remember that just because something might make a few bucks one way or another, doesn’t make it the right decision. The heritage, agricultural productivity, and community that is represented in the Wood Colony area is irreplaceable and should simply be left alone.

For once, I would love to see a political decision be made because it is the right thing to do, not the most profitable.
