Info: Community Hospice offers a volunteer training class for interested community members. Hospice volunteers serve in many ways, such as visiting with patients, facilitating grief groups or working at the Hope Chest Thrift stores. The two-session training class is open to the public; pre-registration is required. The training sessions are held in Modesto and Stockton, details given upon registration. Info: Men diagnosed with prostate cancer meet the fourth Monday of each month. Januarys speaker will be Faron Moreno, a registered dietitian from Memorial Medical Center, who will speak on the topic of nutrition, specific to prostate cancer. Following her presentation, there will be small-group interaction with prostate cancer survivors, newly diagnosed, in treatment or in recovery. Friends and family members are encouraged to attend.
