When: Tuesday, 7 p.m.

Where: Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Telle Center (north parking lot) 1600 Carver Road

Info: General meeting with presentation, “Battle of the Diamond and the Founding of the Orange Order – A Connection to Northern Ireland.” Speakers Lewis and Logan Ruddick will offer a PowerPoint presentation to show how, through the use of DNA and library research, they were able to discover the location in Northern Ireland that was the point of departure for their several-times-great-grandfather, who was the first of their Ruddick family to come to America and their connection to the origin of the Orange Order. The presentation covers the period from circa 1700 to 1735, as well as more current material added for genealogical flavor. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served.

Info: Two community meetings are scheduled to gauge community support and interest in attending classes and workforce training programs through Modesto Junior College on the West Side. Community members, parents and students are invited to attend one or both meetings. 75 YEARS AGO: The Oakdale National Farm Loan Association experienced the largest attendance in the history of its annual meeting. At the meeting, the association elected C.C. Turner as president and Walter Spencer as vice president. The association also gave their annual report declaring there had been a slight decrease in delinquencies in the area.
